A security guard named Zahidur was detained by the students while trying to give Phensedyl to a teacher of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on January 24. A case has been filed against the two in this incident.

Mohaiminul Islam, a student of the physics department of the university, filed the case under the Narcotics Control Act at Jalalabad police station in Sylhet on Tuesday (January 25).

Jalalabad Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Huda Khan confirmed the matter to the media.

On Monday (January 24) at around 11 pm, the students arrested a security guard named Zahidur while he was going to give Phensedyl to the teacher in the Teachers' Dormitory adjacent to the residence of the Vice-Chancellor.

After his arrest, Zahidur said that when he came to the campus to perform his duties, the teacher told him to bring medicine saying that he was ill. A man shown by the teacher gave him a packet. Zahidur was caught with a bottle of Phensedyl in that packet by the protesting students at the checkpoint. An ID card of the security guard who was with him at the time was found.

Jalalabad Police Station OC Nazmul Huda Khan said security guards Zahidur Rahman and Juman Ahmed, who were detained at noon, were sent to jail through a court on charges of drug possession. Mohaiminul Islam, a student activist, has filed a case against the two in connection with the incident.
